Gilbertsville Kitchen Tile FlooringOccasionally, we come across a project that seems straightforward, then throws us a curve ball once work begins. This kitchen floor project in Gilbertsville was one of those instances, and we at JR Carpentry & Tile welcomed the challenge!

The customer wanted to update their kitchen by installing new tile. However, the existing surface with linoleum – laid on top of a previous linoleum floor – which had been laid over plywood. We had to remove both layers of linoleum, along with the old plywood, in order to complete this project.

Once all three layers were cleared away, we installed the new tile flooring over the existing subfloor. To do this, we used Schulter’s Ditra Membrane and the required thin set material to adhere the new ceramic tile. The floor was then grouted, and existing baseboard was reinstalled and caulked to create a seamless look.
