Transforming A Lafayette Hill Basement With Demolition & Quality Craftsmanship

If you have a basement, chances are you’ve dreamed of all of the ways you can transform it into an attractive, usable space.
However, your dreams have probably been dashed by an awkward floor plan.

A homeowner in Lafayette Hill wanted to convert their space into a lounge area for entertaining, complete with a pool table and an L-shaped bar.
However, the space was not conducive to the desired look, with a storage area taking up much of the basement.
The JR Carpentry & Tile team analyzed the closet wall and determined that it could be demolished without affecting the structure of the house. Now it was time to get to work!
Once the wall was demolished, we removed all of the flooring and installed beautiful new cork flooring.
We also added a railing-style wainscot trim running 3/4 of the way around the basement walls to give the area a classy, elegant feel.
We constructed a gorgeous fireplace surround out of stacked ledger stone, and built a brand new hearth, which gave the fireplace an attractive new frame.
New lighting was installed throughout the basement to balance the rooms out. We even gave the bathroom a facelift, adding new flooring, fixtures, and lighting.
Next, we moved on to the stairwell. Part of it was removed to open the basement up, and the existing railing system was replicated to add continuity to the stairs.
The brand new bar was made with the same stacked stone as the fireplace surround to tie the entire basement together. We installed new cabinetry, and fitted the drainage system to allow for a wet bar to be set up.
